Boroujerdi in Damascus for talks with Syrian officials

TEHRAN, Oct. 14 (MNA) – Head of Parliaments National Security Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi arrived in the Syrian capital Wed. to hold talks with Syrian senior officials.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, Head of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran Parliament, and his accompanying delegation were formally received by his Syrian counterpart Fadia Dib.

Upon his arrival at Damascus Airport, Boroujerdi told reporters the aim of his visit is to reiterate the Islamic Republic’s support for Bassar Assad government as a resistance front against the “Zionist regime.”

While referring to the formation of a new coalition with the participation of Iran, Russia, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon's resistant forces to settle the Syrian crisis, Boroujerdi highlighted the need for all-out cooperation from all involved sides in the fight against terrorism.  

During the three-day visit, the Iranian senior official is scheduled to hold meetings with Syrian President Bashar Assad, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, and Foreign Minister Walid Muallem.

He is also slated to attend a press conference with Laham following the bilateral meeting.

Boroujerdi and his delegation will discuss regional developments particularly the Syrian situation during the scheduled meetings.
